IPL Treatment Care

For best results, please follow these instructions

• No makeup on treatment day — Do not wear makeup on the day of treatment.
• Shaving — Excess hair may need to be shaved. Men should be cleanly shaved.
• Avoid sun exposure — No sun-tanning or self-tanners 4 weeks prior to treatment. Includes spray tans, tanning lotions, tanning beds, and sun exposure.
• Avoid skin-irritating treatments — Avoid treatments that may irritate the skin for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment. Includes waxing, depilatories, etc.
• Update your provider — Notify the clinic with any changes to your health history or medications since your last appointment.
• Cold sore history — History of herpes or cold sores may require an anti-viral prescription prior to treatment. Please inform your provider.
• Stop all skin actives/irritants containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, vitamin C, and alcohol based toners

• Sun protection — Avoid sun exposure and use a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen to prevent further sun damage.
• Expected reactions — Bruising, redness, and swelling may occur and will resolve with time.
• Avoid heat — Stay away from hot tubs, saunas, etc. for 1-2 days post-treatment.
• Avoid skin irritants — Avoid the following products for a few days post-treatment:
  Products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, astringents, etc.
• Multiple treatments — Multiple treatments may be required for optimal results.
